Just got back from Sea Isle City NJ, shooting a Hurricane Sandy-related video about coastal protection and beach renourishment.

SeaIsleCity-Cat-pic2Hurricane Sandy destroyed a lot of beaches and dunes along the ?New Jersey shore?.

It was fascinating to see the process underway to dredge and pipe sand from the bottom of inlets and out in the ocean and put it all back on the shore where it came from.

I’m amazed by the ingenuity, creativity, and drive of the people behind projects like this, and yet the enormous power and scale of God’s creation completely dwarfs it all.

Below, the Illinois is a dredge ship that pumps a sand and water slurry from this borrow area through several miles of pipeline onto the ?Jersey shore?, where bulldozers spread and grade it to make the ‘new’ ?man-made beach?.
