We had a great time learning about how the elevator was started, how farming technology has changed over the years, and how the elevator operates today. But we were especially surprised to learn that some of the board members served for 20 or 30 years. That’s a remarkably high level of commitment, and that’s clearly been one of the keys to their continued success.
Today, the company has 5 locations with over 4 million bushels of storage, and 15 full time employees.
Last fall I built a barnwood wall in our portrait studio for indoor autumn pictures, and it made the perfect backdrop for the interviews in this video. I also transferred the old 8mm films that appear in this video, and we scanned a wide variety of old farming photos as well to help show some of the old farming equipment and techniques.
